Terms of Use

These terms set the rules for using this website. By visiting any page, running a search, or reading content here, you agree to everything listed below. If you do not accept these conditions, leave the site and do not use it further.

NO FCRA USE. North Carolina Court Docket is privately operated and has no connection to a court or government agency. Neither this site nor an advertising partner provides a consumer report or service for credit, employment, insurance, rental, or another purpose regulated by the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA). The site points visitors to court docket and case-record resources in North Carolina. It is not a private investigation firm or a consumer reporting agency.

1. What This Website Is

North Carolina Court Docket is an independent reference site, not a court or government office. It does not store official case files and cannot retrieve a docket, move a hearing, or submit a court filing for a visitor.

The site directs visitors to the North Carolina eCourts Portal, the state court system, and the Clerk of Superior Court in the county where a case was filed. One elected county clerk keeps records for both trial divisions in each of the state's 100 counties. Third-party tools may also appear as optional research links.

2. Informational Use Only

All material is offered for general information about North Carolina court dockets and case records. It does not replace the official docket, a court order, or advice from an attorney. Treat it as a starting reference and confirm any important entry or deadline with the court or county clerk that holds the case.

3. Rules for Using This Site

You agree that you will not:

  • Use automated bots or scrapers against site pages
  • Break into site systems or access areas without authorization
  • Use site content for a purpose prohibited by the Fair Credit Reporting Act
  • Threaten, stalk, or harass another person with information from this site
  • Violate federal, North Carolina, or local law while using the site
  • Interfere with the site's availability or another visitor's use

4. We Are Not a Consumer Reporting Agency

North Carolina Court Docket is not a consumer reporting agency under the FCRA and does not create background, credit, or consumer reports. The site and its advertising partners do not offer products for eligibility decisions about work, housing, insurance, credit, or another FCRA-regulated matter. Visitors agree not to use information from this site or its linked tools to:

  • Decide who qualifies for a license, permit, or government program
  • Make a credit or insurance eligibility decision
  • Assess a person for employment or housing
  • Use the information for any other purpose covered by FCRA rules

Use a provider that complies with the FCRA if a regulated consumer report is required for a lawful purpose.

5. No Legal Advice

Nothing here constitutes legal advice about a North Carolina case, charge, order, or filing deadline. A licensed North Carolina attorney can advise how law applies to a particular situation.

6. Accuracy Is Not Guaranteed

Materials are supplied "as is." No promise is made that:

  • The site will be continuously available
  • Information will always be complete, accurate, or up to date
  • Pages will never contain an error or technical vulnerability
  • Search-partner results will be complete or correct

North Carolina dockets change as filings arrive, hearings move, and matters are dismissed, sealed, or amended. Gaps can occur even when care is taken to keep the reference material current. Nothing here is an official statement from a court or Clerk of Superior Court. Confirm a docket entry or date with the office holding the record before relying on it.

7. Third-Party Services and Links

Links point to North Carolina court and clerk resources, legal aid, and independent search services. A click opens a separate service whose content, data practices, fees, and availability are outside this site's control. Read its terms before use.

8. Intellectual Property

Text, graphics, logos, and code on North Carolina Court Docket belong to the site or its content partners. Reproduction, distribution, modification, or reuse requires prior written permission.

9. Limits on Our Liability

To the maximum extent allowed by law, the site is not liable for loss or damage connected with its use, including reliance on material here or on a linked service.

10. Indemnification

You agree to protect the site from claims, proceedings, or demands arising from your use of it or a breach of these terms, including related legal expenses.

11. Governing Law

North Carolina law governs these terms. A dispute connected to use of this site must be filed in a court located in North Carolina.

12. Changes to These Terms

These terms may be revised at any time. An updated version takes effect when it is posted here.

Frequently Asked Questions

No. North Carolina Court Docket does not access or maintain a court's case system. Search through the case lookup or find the filing county's Clerk of Superior Court in the county directory.

Can you change or confirm my court date?

No. Only the court can set or confirm a hearing. Check North Carolina court dates, then verify a setting with the clerk for the county where the case is filed.

Is a docket entry on a linked tool official?

No. A third-party view may be incomplete or old. The Clerk of Superior Court in the filing county is the official custodian for the trial-court record.
