Why We Built This Site
North Carolina makes many trial-court case details available to the public, but the search index and the official file are separate. The North Carolina eCourts Portal lets a visitor look for eligible cases by name or number. The court system governs the trial and appellate levels, and the county Clerk of Superior Court maintains the trial file where the case was filed. That county office keeps records for both Superior and District Court matters. A statewide result can identify the case and its events; the complete paper file, a missing document, or a certified copy still comes from the local clerk. This distinction shapes every county route in the directory.

What We Cannot Do
This is a privately run reference site with no connection to a North Carolina court, county Clerk of Superior Court, or state agency. Its role is limited. It cannot:
- We cannot pull an official docket sheet or case file for anyone
- We cannot change, reschedule, or reset a court date or hearing setting
- We cannot remove, seal, or amend a case on any docket
- We cannot issue certified copies of any docket, order, or court document
- We cannot give legal advice or explain how a specific case applies to you
- We cannot guarantee that every phone number, fee, or setting listed on this site is current right now
An official or certified copy must come from the North Carolina court or county Clerk of Superior Court that holds the file. The directory can help identify the local route.
Search Partners
Some search boxes on these pages come from independent providers. They operate their own services, set their own prices, and determine what their searches return. If a visitor follows one of those tools to a paid signup, the site may receive a referral fee. That support helps fund this reference resource, but the provider controls its product and results.
