This Is Not a Court or Government Office. North Carolina Court Docket is privately operated. It cannot retrieve an official file, change a court date, remove or seal a record, issue a certified copy, or advise on a case. Those requests go to the North Carolina court or county Clerk of Superior Court that holds the record.
Need an Official Docket or Record?
Use the office or service that holds the information you need:
- A full docket or paper file: search the North Carolina eCourts Portal first, then use the county directory to contact the filing county's Clerk of Superior Court about documents not online.
- A hearing date: check North Carolina court dates and the case's notice, then confirm a reset or unclear setting with the county court office listed through the directory.
- A certified copy: request it from the Clerk of Superior Court in the county that holds the case; the county directory identifies the local route.
- A statewide public search: use the North Carolina case lookup to search by party name or case number in the eCourts Portal.
- How trial and appellate courts fit together: see the North Carolina court system overview.
The Portal is a public search and viewing service, not a statewide records counter. The county Clerk of Superior Court keeps the official trial-court file and handles copies, so use the directory to find the office for the county where the case began.
